Glimpses of Summer

We are starting to see glimpses of summer with warmer temperatures, melting snow and blooming wildflowers, it might not be summer yet but we are already experiencing a shift to the more active, outward energy that is characteristic of the season.

This shift in energy often increases our own physical energy and motivates us to get outside, move and make the most of the long, warm days of summer. We start to fill our days with all of the fun summertime activities, sometimes moving at a fast pace from one activity to the next with not much time in between.

At first, we can maintain this fast pace because our physical energy has increased, but this reservoir is not endless or bottomless, eventually it will become depleted. If our energy becomes depleted, we might experience summer burn out, leaving us feeling tired, overextended and overwhelmed. We can prevent burnout from happening by creating balance between the energy that is stored and the energy that is used.

One of the easiest and most effective ways to bring balance is to incorporate activities, like yoga and meditation, that increase the inward flow of energy and refuel the reservoir. Mindfulness practices can decrease stress and anxiety, shift the nervous system into a state of rest and digest and bring balance to the body, mind and spirit.

As always, the teachers at the Yoga Room can teach you tools that will help support you and all of your summer endeavors.

We are starting to shift into our summer schedule and are making some changes to help further support your summer pursuits. We are adding outdoor classes and changing times of some of our other classes. Please check our Online schedule for more details on these changes and the most up-to-date information.
